German broadcasting company visit Carnegie Library

Our Local History Librarian Tom Barclay assists with a rather interesting enquiry

On Wednesday 5th May a team from the German broadcasting company RTL visited the Carnegie Library’s local history department. They are making a programme about people who believe that under hypnosis they have been able to recall memories of past lives. A lady in Germany believes that in a previous existence in the sixteenth century she stayed at various places in Scotland including Ayr and Dunure Castle! The visitors were looking for historical background information, and inspected old maps of the area and old illustrations of Ayr and Dunure. Some years ago, there was a similar visit by a film team making a programme about an English gentleman who believed that in a past life in the seventeenth century he had been a Roundhead soldier stationed at Ayr!
