National Family Week – Story Time

Family Week Story Time Logo

Today is Story Time for families all across the country. National Family Week is encouraging storytelling in all its forms throughout the day – it’s any story, anytime, anywhere!

Grandparent and child sharing a storyEveryone loves a good story, whether it’s listening to grandparents recount adventures of their youth, being read to sleep by a bedtime story or being gripped round the camp-fire as you listen to a local legend or two. Stories spark our imaginations and provide children with many of the basic skills they need to succeed at school and in life.

You don’t need to be a bookworm to love literature!
A story doesn’t have to mean a children’s book either, older children often miss out on practicing reading aloud and developing their public speaking skills. Just recounting childhood memories, stories about first words and reliving favourite moments can make families feel closer as they discover more about themselves and each other. Simply talking about your favourite books and characters can spark a love of literature that will last forever.

Share the magic of stories and some quality family time
