Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts 2013

Hay banner

Hay Festival runs for ten days with a packed programme of debates and conversations with poets and scientists, novelists and historians, artists and gardeners, comedians and musicians, film makers and politicians.  The festival is in its 26th year in Hay, a magical book town in the Black Mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. The organisers also create festivals in ten cities around the world every year from Cartagena to Dhaka, and from Beirut to Nairobi.

The Hay Library Lecture.  In and out of the book – The Uses of Illustration, Quentin Blake
Thursday 23 May 2013, 2.30pm

This year’s library lecture is given by the illustrator and writer Quentin Blake, whose long collaboration with Roald Dahl and his own work, which includes Clown, Zagazoo, Mrs Armitage, Mister Magnolia and his recent study Beyond The Page, have confirmed him as one of Britain’s greatest artists.

We appreciate that this festival is quite a distance for some of our readers to travel, so if you can’t make it to the festival you can still view the lecture at home if you have an internet connection or for free in your local library. To do this log on to the Hay website at 2.15pm on Thursday 23 May, 15 minutes before the lecture starts at 2.30pm.
