A Poem about Dundonald Library for National Poetry Day

Today is National Poetry Day 2015 and to celebrate we would like to share a poem by one of our library members.

Irene McGinness is a regular visitor to Dundonald Library where she meets up with the knitting and nattering group (when she’s not too busy writing poetry). Her poems have been well received with several being published in books and magazines. This library inspired poem has to be our favourite.

Dundonald Library
by Irene McGinness

Dundonald Library within the school site
Books upon books what an immense delight
Within the library there are books galore
Books of learning I have to explore
Hungry for knowledge you will never tire
Every type of book for your heart’s desire
Like an Aladdin’s cave that’s rich in treasure
Talking books, biographies or reading for pleasure
History, travel, romance and crime
Something for everyone so take your time
Fiction and non-fiction for adults and children too
Dundonald Library has everything for you
What a wealth of knowledge a library can hold
Every book is worth it’s weight in gold
Spoilt for choice where do I begin
Help is on hand, ask the librarian Lynn
Pamphlets, brochures, information on hand
Computers to log on for you to command
So much on offer there is no doubt
The Dundonald Library I could not do without
