A busy week of events at Troon Library with Book Week Scotland and Wintertainment

Troon Library had a full programme of events last week, as they celebrated Book Week Scotland and Wintertainment.

On Sunday afternoon Troon Library opened its doors for Wintertainment. With stalls to browse, DVD and book sale, face painting and drop in family Christmas Crafts, the library was buzzing with around 600 customers coming through the doors!

On Monday Troon author, Martin Stewart gave a fabulous presentation of his new novel Riverkeep to Marr College S3 pupils. He also gave the pupils lots of brilliant tips for research and writing.

On Wednesday night it was another full house for author Lesley Sehli who joined us to speak about her new book ‘He said die. I say no!’. Lesley’s talks have been very well received at the library and we’re hoping she’ll come back to visit us again in the New Year.

As our monthly Chatterbook group fell in Scottish Book Week we celebrated by inviting local author, Lyn Donogue, to read from her forthcoming book The Highland Princess. Lyn then described the personality of one of the fairies in her book and the children had to draw what they thought the fairy would look like. Lyn is going to pass on their magical drawings to her illustrator for inspiration!

To round off this busy week we were lucky enough to have Scottish children’s author, Elizabeth McKay, who read her books Wee Granny and the Magic Bag and Wee Granny and the Ceilidh to a captivated audience. The children loved the books and playing the games Elizabeth had created for her stories, she even had her very own mannequin challenge!
