Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November. This year’s celebrations will take place from Monday 27 November – Sunday 3 December 2017.
We have an exciting line up of events – we hope you can join us.
Mystery Screening – Free event, ticketed
Girvan Library, Monday 27 November, 2pm
Join us for the screening of a surprise film served for Book Week Scotland. Refreshments will be served. The film to be shown will be confirmed on our website before the day of the event, but why not live dangerously and book now? Limited to 30 places.
ADAPT! A literary film-making workshop – Free event, drop in
Carnegie Library, Tuesday 28 November, 1pm
Ever wanted to learn how to take your favourite stories, and make them come alive on film? Let the Film School Team show you how! After exploring the local library, participants will work on adapting their favourite chapter, short story or piece of fiction into a script for a short film. Once those creative muscles have been flexed, the group will pick a winning script to be made – learn new skills, express yourself and compete in the fun and challenging ADAPT! Project. Suitable for ages 14 – 16 years.
Nourish Therapy – Free event, ticketed

Come along to Girvan Library to discover more about Reiki and the techniques used. Anne Meredith, a retired nurse, registered to practice in Reiki / Healing touch within hospitals and hospices, will be sharing her expertise during this informative talk and demonstration.
‘Game of Thrones’ cookery themed demonstration – Paid, ticketed £5

Join us for a Game of Thrones cooking demonstration. A 90-minute session which includes the chance to taste all dishes and a glass of wine, and copies of all the recipes to take away. Limited to 25 places.

Take your seats for a morning film show at the library. We’ll be watching the hilarious animated-adventure, ‘Ratatouille’. Refreshments will be served, places are limited to 25.

You will decorate two freshly baked cupcakes – one to eat and one to take home in a beautiful gift box. For children aged 5 – 12 years. All children must be accompanied by an adult; limited to 12 places.
Pyjama Story Time – Free event, booking essential

Join us for a fun pyjama storytime. Children can come along in their pyjamas and bring along their favourite teddy. For ages 4-7 years. Limited to 12 places.
