We had a FANG-TASTIC time in our libraries this Halloween…

November 2, 2016

At Prestwick Library the children made haunted houses with spooky creatures in the windows and some surprisingly friendly (and sparkly) looking Draculas at their craft event. They also had some little monsters and a few pumpkins joining them for their spooky BOO-kbug session.

They made batty bats and pom pom spiders at Maybole Library, and pumpkins, shadow shapes and Day of the Dead sugar skulls at Girvan.

At Troon Library they made petrifying paper chains and spook-tacular ghosties.

Symington Primary 3s got Batty About Books when they dropped in for a visit. The children decorated the library with their book reviews and enjoyed some hair-raising stories.  While the BOO-kbug session enjoyed spooky rhymes and a game of musical statues to the Ghostbusters tune, before heading home with a Halloween treat.

‘Where are you Scooby?’… On Friday there was a mystery needing solved at Symington Library. Luckily Symington Nursery classes were able to help ‘Velma’, Scooby and Shaggy (aka Bookbug) find Fred and Daphne to sort out any ghosts on the way…If it wasn’t for those meddling kids!

Thanks to everyone who came along to our events, we hope you had lots of fun! 👻

Musical Bookbug session at Tarbolton Library

We had our very own mini Glastonbury during a recent Bookbug session at Tarbolton Library. The headlining act for this festival of fun was our very own library assistant Mark, who delighted fans with his musical talents. Cheers of delight went up in the crowd when ‘Roon Aboot, Roon Aboot’ and ‘Horsey Horsey’ were played, before a ‘dance off’ during the always popular ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes’.  The crowd eventually settled down to enjoy the Scots translation of ‘Room on the Broom’, before finishing up the session with ‘The Big Ship Sails’ and ‘Twinkle Twinkle’.

Gingerbread Man Puppet Show with Clydebuilt Puppet Theatre at Ayr’s Carnegie Library

February 22, 2016

Gingerbread Man and fox

Imagine a world made entirely of biscuits: trees, house and stars in the sky.  Into this beautiful world comes GINGERBREAD MAN, creating havoc wherever he goes.  He meets a majestic Cow, a stubborn Goat and an opportunistic Bird.  But can GINGERBREAD MAN outwit the dastardly Fox….?

With a foot tapping ‘Yummy Chase’ soundtrack, reminiscent of an old movie and minimal language, this is tremendously popular story with younger audiences.  A visual feast specially devised for younger children aged 3+ years.
