Share a Story…

Spending just 10 minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their outcome and it’s fun for all involved. You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane – reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.

We’ve got a fantastic selection of stories for you to choose from – and if you can’t make it to the library you can always visit our eBook website.

It was all go in our libraries as we celebrated World Book Day

Carnegie Library

Bookbug paints a story for World Book Day

It was sponges and rollers at the ready at Ayr’s Carnegie Library when the children were let loose to paint a picture to go with our story Dinosaur Zoom! by Penny Dale. Our Bookbug theme was ‘things that go’ so we sang ‘the wheels on the bus’, bounced along to ‘rickety, rickety, rockety horse’ and generally just let our fingers ‘wiggle, waggle’ to a few rhymes. It was great fun, if a little bit messy!

Alloway Library

Alloway Library was very busy on World Book Day. They were visited by the whole of Alloway Primary school! The Library staff and children all had a great time celebrating together.

Girvan Library

The ‘Literary Ladies’ of Girvan Library Book Group enjoyed catching up to discuss their latest read.

Congratulations to Girvan Library’s World Book Day competition winner Calum Muir, Age 7. Calum designed a new cover for Hello, Hugless Douglas! by David Melling. Well done Calum!

WBD2014_yellow_leftOur Book Ninjas are out and about on World Book Day

Our library staff Renee, Ailsa, Gillian and Suzanne can’t wait to get budding bookworms buzzing about this year’s World Book Day. Now in its 17th year, World Book Day aims to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own. The staff will be joining the celebrations by visiting some local primary schools and nursery classes to read stories and share just how magical books can be.
