Symington Nursery visit the library for a special Christmas Bookbug Session

December 24, 2015

After magically building a snowman – the children discovered a letter from Santa, who was short on elves and needing some help in his workshop. So we all travelled to the North Pole (on a one horse open sleigh and laughing all the way – of  course!), decorated our elf hats ready to help Santa and still managed to do the biggest Christmas ‘Elfie’ Symington has seen this Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone!

Symington Primary 1s vote for their favourite Scottish Children’s Book

December 18, 2015

IMG_0378 IMG_0375IMG_0381

Symington Primary 1 have been visiting the library over the last few weeks to listen to the books nominated for the Scottish Children’s Book Awards. Today everyone got to vote for their favourite (it’ a secret – we’re not telling!).

After the voting was over the children enjoyed a lovely festive story, before it was time to get out the glitter, and make some sparkly Christmas bookmarks.

Those bookmarks will look great in all the new books we’ve asked Santa for!

Bookbug Christmas Crafts at Symington Library

December 14, 2015

This week at Symington Library‘s Bookbug session we were reading I Love You Father Christmas by Giles Andreae and Emma Dodds.

We built a sleigh and decorated it with tinsel and bells . It was ‘the coolest sleigh ever’ in the words of one of the little ones.  We then decorated pictures of Santa with crayons and glitter and gave him a very fluffy beard Ho, Ho, Ho!
