Knit 1 Bike 1 Exhibition at Ayr’s Carnegie Library

March 20, 2017

Friday 31 March – Monday 10 April 2017

The story of Janet Renouf-Miller’s epic 818 mile cycling adventure around Scotland translated into knitting and crochet.

Janet has created knitted and crocheted art work inspired by what she saw on her travels including a Brompton folding bicycle like the one she used to get around Scotland, a strawberry sponge cake, the Isle of Mull ferry, several worms, caterpillars and a sheep’s head, the Isle of Skye, seals and lots more. Her biggest project is the 15 foot long crocheted Glenfinnan Viaduct. That’s the one featured in the Harry Potter movies!

This exhibition is on display in the non-fiction lending department of Carnegie Library, 12 Main Street, Ayr KA8 8EB.

Free admission.

Sew, Knit and Natter at Symington Library

December 1, 2016

Symington Library’s Sew, Knit and Natter group had a rather impromptu Poppy Knit and managed to raise £11.55 for the Poppy appeal! Well done, ladies and a big thank you to customers at Symington for their support. The ladies will be concentrating on all things festive for the next few weeks, so if you would like to knit a snowman or make a Christmas bauble, come and join us at 4pm every Tuesday afternoon.

Although Dundonald Library’s Sew, Knit and Natter group has only been going for a few short weeks, the ladies have been very busy. They have made some lovely blankets, hats, cardigans and teddies that will be sent to a charity in Africa. Well done ladies!

Donations of Wool
If anyone has some spare wool in very bright colours that they could donate, it would be most appreciated. Just hand it in to Lynn at Dundonald Library or your nearest branch library.

If you would like to join our knit, sew and natter group on a Friday evening from 6-7pm please contact Lynn at Dundonald Library, Castle Drive, Dundonald or telephone 01563 850407.
