Living Well Through Stories

Have you been diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s, or do you look after someone who has?  If so we would like to invite you along to a dementia friendly storytelling session at Prestwick and Symington Libraries created especially for those living with Dementia and their carers.  Please come and join in the fun with our guest storyteller.  The interactive session will be followed with some light refreshments.  We would love to have you join us on:

Crafts and Superhero Selfies at Prestwick Library

We made jumping jack characters (Hulk, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Batman, Spiderman), designed our own superhero masks and cuffs to wear, put on our capes…and KAPOW! We were ready for action 📸😎

After crafts and superhero selfies we had lots of new recruits signing up for ‘Heroes’, this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. This bunch will be saving the world in no time, they’ve already managed to achieve their first superhero reward!

Would you like to become a hero? Come and join our craft sessions or sign up for our Summer Reading Challenge. It’s FREE to enter, suitable for ages 5-12 years and you can take part at every library in South Ayrshire from Monday 26 June until Saturday 19 August 2017.

Monkeying around at Prestwick Library

There was a lot of monkeying around at Prestwick Library’s craft club last week.  Keeping with the theme of our Summer Reading Challenge ‘Down in the Jungle’, the children decorated bookmarks and masks of various jungle animals before signing up for the reading challenge. Now they’re looking forward to reading lots of brilliant books over the summer holidays and collecting fab jungle rewards.

Glitter and Glue at Prestwick Library Craft Club

There were some fabulous crafts on display at Prestwick Library Craft Club. Everyone was busy with colouring pens, glue and glitter during the session to create these bright and brilliant mobiles.

Drop in to the library for the opportunity to handle a collection of objects relating to the Next of Kin exhibition that is currently on display at Rozelle House.

The exhibition reveals the personal stories of separation and loss experienced by Scottish families during the First World War. It features keepsakes treasured by families as a way of remembering loved ones lost on the fighting fronts, including letters and postcards sent home, medals sent by the government to next of kin and unique artefacts collected by troops as souvenirs.

The Next of Kin exhibition will be on display at Rozelle House, Monument Road, Ayr until 28 September 2015.

A wonderful exhibition of images taken around South Ayrshire comparing the landscape as it was then and how it is now, will be on display from Monday 5th March at Troon Library.  The exhibition will then move on to Alloway Library, please see dates below or check our events calendar.

This is a free exhibition
