Enjoy a thrilling line-up of popular local authors and a cream tea at our Readers’ Afternoon. Douglas Skelton, Pat Young and Michael J Malone will be talking about their books, inspiration and approach to writing. We hope you can join us for this lively afternoon for book lovers at Troon Library.

New Bookbug Sessions April to June 2018

Catch the reading bug at your local library!

Come along and join us for these free, fun and friendly events for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their families to enjoy together. Each session lasts around 30 minutes and includes songs, stories and rhymes. There is usually no need to book (except for Troon and Prestwick Library sessions), they take place in a very relaxed environment and are a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your little one.

Happy World Book Day! School closed? Drop into your local library for books, LEGO, puzzles and lots of activities for a snowy day – and we’d love to see you in your World Book Day costume too.

Trio of authors lined-up to bring Readers’ Day to life at the Carnegie

Three well-known and exciting authors are joining us for this year’s Readers’ Day at the Ayr Carnegie Library. The event, on Sunday 8 October, promises an eclectic mix of historical fiction, children’s books and poetry.

Gillian Muir is a fantastic local author from Minishant and an entertaining speaker. A geography teacher ‘to trade’, she has travelled widely. Her ‘Louis Louis’ picture books are a hit with children of all ages.

Douglas Jackson from Bridge of Allan, spent 36 years in journalism before leaving The Scotsman in 2009 to become a full-time writer. He has written ten historical novels and four thrillers (as James Douglas. His novels have been published in twelve languages.

Alan Riach is the Professor of Scottish Literature at Glasgow University and the author of numerous books including his sixth collection of poems.
