An Inspiring Story of Self Help and Empowerment

Monday 11 June 2018, 7pm

Popular local author Lesley Sehli will be joining us at Prestwick Library to talk about her book ‘He said die, I say no!’. Lesley was the first British woman to hold a uniquely privileged position behind the veil in Saudi Arabia and her work reveals an underworld of prostitution, pain and imprisonment and in her capacity, she helps those she can. Married into an elite, powerful family, where money and riches were no object and then left destitute, fighting for survival against a deadly disease; her experience proves that things that can be presumed might hold you back will actually push you forward, and the truth can set you free!

The Reading Well Mood-boosting Books scheme is a national promotion of uplifting titles, including novels, poetry and non-fiction. The books are recommended by readers.

They have worked with Macmillan Cancer Support to involve people who have been diagnosed with cancer in recommending books. Below is the list of 20 titles that they have suggested. Most of the books are not specifically about cancer but have been recommended as books that people found mood-boosting during or after treatment.
