Living Well Through Stories

Have you been diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimer’s, or do you look after someone who has?  If so we would like to invite you along to a dementia friendly storytelling session at Prestwick and Symington Libraries created especially for those living with Dementia and their carers.  Please come and join in the fun with our guest storyteller.  The interactive session will be followed with some light refreshments.  We would love to have you join us on:

Celebrate Book Week Scotland with the Chatterbooks Group
Thursday 24 November, 3.30pm – 4.45pm

We have some brilliant events lined up at Symington Library to celebrate this year’s Book Week Scotland. Dress up as your favourite book character, Book Sale, Book Buffet, Find the five Golden Books, Pin the Ears on the BFG and lots of other fun activities…but the star attraction is a visit from Big Bookbug!

Music and Storytelling Workshops

Wednesday 2 March 2016 at the following times –

9.45am – 10.30am
10.45am – 11.30am
11.45am – 12:30pm

Daniela runs music and storytelling workshops based on popular children stories.  She uses her singing voice and different instrumentalists according to the story. These workshops are totally interactive, the children have a chance to participate in the story, playing with percussion instruments, props and puppets, learning new songs and taking part in movement activities and singing games.

Sessions are FREE, but places must be pre-booked as numbers are strictly limited to 15 children per session.

Gator gets a shocking fright after some visitors to Audubon Zoo ignore the signs saying: “DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS AT ANY TIME.” How will Gator solve his colorful problem? Will anyone or anything come to his rescue?

Come along and enjoy this story, and some crocodile tales. For children aged 3 – 6 years.

Book Week Scotland is a celebration of books and reading for everyone in the country. People the length and breadth of Scotland are being encouraged to take part in the first ever week-long national celebration of reading, and to join in with the wide range of free events to be held throughout the week.

Storytelling with Rosie Mapplebeck
Tuesday 27 November, Carnegie Library 10am – 4pm

Rosie Mapplebeck will be storytelling all around the library, suitable for children and adults.

Author visit: Michael Malone
Tuesday 27 November, Troon Library, 7.30pm

Michael Malone is a cool new voice in the popular Scottish crime fiction genre. Join us as he talks about his first crime novel Blood Tears.

Author visit: Moira McPartlin
Thursday 29 November, Carnegie Library, 7.30pm

Author Moira McPartlin talks about her new book ‘The Incomers’, a fascinating insight into the prejudice an African woman encounters on marrying a white Scot and settling in a small Fife village.

Tarbolton Primary 1 and Primary 2 proudly show off their posters with Alan our staff member at Tarbolton.

Tarbolton Primary P1s and P2s had a great time when they visited the library for a storytelling session.  Afterwards the children created some brilliant posters based on the things they had learned during their visit. The posters are on display in Tarbolton Library for anyone wishing to view them.

Bookbug’s Time for Bed

Sshh! Renee just read Noisy Way to Bed by Ian Whybrow and Bookbug is sleeping.  His little friends are making hangers for their bedroom doors while he naps.   Perhaps they’ll be tired out after their activity and have a nap too.
