Technology Petting Zoo at Carnegie Library

devicesblogTo celebrate National Libraries Day we are holding a Technology Petting Zoo in Carnegie Library this Friday.  Staff will be on hand to help customers explore the jungle of eBook readers, tablets and smart phones that can be used to access some of our library services.

Customers will be able to see and touch a variety of these devices including; a Sony eReader, Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet, iPad 2 and Galaxy Samsung Note tablet.  Library staff will also provide guidance and support on the software that’s required to use our services on these gadgets.

We also have a lovely big touch screen media station for a hands on look at the great selection of eBooks and eAudio books we have available for loan.

Marco Tempest: The magic of truth and lies (and iPods)

Marco Tempest describes himself as a “cyber-illusionist”. The New Yorker has impressed audiences around the world by mixing traditional magic with technological wizardry. Using three iPods like magical props, Marco spins a clever, surprisingly heartfelt meditation on truth and lies, art and emotion.

Marco describes himself as a practitioner of “open sorcery”, because he shares all the software tools necessary to perform his tricks through various portals including his website.  Watch Marco reveal his tricks in this video from the Ted.
